When you speak to anyone or ask people what is the most important tip for inbound marketing they all come back with the same view. And that is content and relevant content at that. And what is your content made up of but words or keywords, so they have to be important too?
Then if think about your target market and how they find you by entering those keywords into
Google which hopefully find your relevant and entertaining content. Therefore maybe this SEO and Inbound marketing is not actually very hard. So I pick the keyword that you my target market will search for and write content based around that keyword or phrase, and job completed. But who do I pick those keywords?
Really before you start optimizing your website pages, or adding new relevant content to your website, you need a plan and a good plan to highlight those keywords which you are targeting for. It is important to identify target keywords for each page, and to identify strategice keywords that are particularly important for a website site or content category.
Our suggestion for your keyword strategy is as simple as 1, 2 and 3. When considering your keyword optimization, try to consider different priorities for optimizing your keywords on each page. Identify the most important phrases grouping them according to the priority you are going to place on them - either 1, 2 or 3.
For example would be:
1: Inbound Marketing: This is main keyword that the page is target for and is searched for the most
2: Inbound marketing plan: This is an alternative to the first keyword and searched less often
3: Implement inbound marketing strategy: This is another alternative
As to how you use these keywords now depends on the volume of searches against the keyword and intent of searchers. For example, if there are around 100 searches per month on your first keyphrase then it is probably only worth optimizing all of these phrases on a single website page. However If there are 1,000 or more, it might be worth separating out the different keyphrases, with a different webpage for each keyword or keyphrase.
So clearly identify your different levels of target keywords or phrases for each page by our simple method of 1,2 and 3 and make it part of your Inbound Marketing Strategy.
And by the way if you taught that keywords and phrase only matter in SEO think again. Because SEO has friend on the block and it is called SMO or Social Media Optimization. No matter the person or their location. They all start searching the same, with a keyword or keyphase. If you can understand their behaviour then you can build out your keywords to attract more visitors to your website.
The journey people take when searching is generally starts with browsing followed by researching and ending with completing.
Considering you were looking for a restaurant, most likely you might start out with a relatively short, generic phrase such as "Restaurant" and then gradually refine it the more you search. So you could start with ""Restaurant New York" and end up with "Pizza Restaurant Manhattan". The more we refine our search we are likely to use more specific keywords and use longer phrases.
As people make their searches more and more specific through the search or buying process, the numbers of people that are these search terms will naturally decreases.
This is some part the challenge of internet marketing. As highly defined phrases indicate the searchers intent to purchase. While the search volume on these keyphrases is likely to be lower, so if we only target these keywords to gain visibility generally we will often not get the volume of sales we are looking for.
As people are becoming more aware or familiar with online searching there is a trend for people to use longer 3 and 4 word phrases.

Over half of people searching are now using keywords that are 3 words or longer. This shows the importance of understanding how people search and your keyphrase analysis.
So have you reviewed your keywords to assess the number of 3 words or longer that you are using?
