Inbound outbound marketing or inbound marketing does it matter?

Do they begin with outbound marketing first to build traffic and then move on to inbound marketing? While this is a very good question, the first question everyone should themselves is why you are doing marketing.

Regardless of inbound outbound marketing, marketing in generally will not make you or your company an overnight success. Both inbound marketing and outbound marketing is about growth, building on your success from yesterday, from last or from last month. It is about building on top of what you already have and driving forward.

A key part of inbound outbound marketing is not only looking to build on top of what you already build have but the frequency. Marketing is something that is not done once a year but as often as possible. Inbound or outbound marketing is getting your message or your brand in front of your target market again and again until they are ready to buy into what you are offering. Without that frequency you can turn into a swimmer that stops moving but sinks to the bottom. For successful marketing to work correctly you need to keep moving forward and as often as possible.

To learn from inbound outbound marketing do not only focus on where you are winning but where your failures are also. We learn from our blogs and how they are viewed. Take our previous blog on How can social media help my business, we look at the number of readers and the comments to see what was the general perception on the blog.  Not every marketing strategy will be a major success, ask any top brand. So learn from your inbound outbound marketing failures but try to learn to run consistent marketing strategies and build on your successes. Look to your inbound marketing or outbound marketing strategies to build trust and credibility around your brand.

By the way inbound outbound marketing or any marketing for that matter takes time or money to make it work. To successfully market your company you do have to put in the time and energy even knowing that there could be some failures. So why are you doing marketing when you now know that it takes time to build and frequency to stay there? Is there a reason why Coca Cola runs marketing campaigns every day? Because they have to!

I've thought to myself recently can it be true that outbound marketing is nearing the end of days and that inbound marketing is the new way to get found?

The method of pushing messages and hoping that people see them is gone. These methods are becoming less and less effective because we as humans have figured out ways to block these interruptive messages.

Sit back and think about it. Does anyone actually watch TV adverts these days, listen to radio adverts or buy newspapers full of adverts?

The prime example would be the latest craze x-factor, my girlfriend is obsessed with the TV show but she never watches it live, but records it and watches it by zipping through the adverts.

However, she does interact by becoming a fan on the X-Factor Facebook page, following the stars on her Twitter account and revisiting the X-Factor YouTube page. Advertisers have a better chance of ‘getting found' by engaging their users here then through outdated pushy messages used in outbound marketing.

I firmly believe that the growth of inbound marketing will continue to grow massively over the next few years and advertisers will start to shift towards inbound marketing.

Its necessary to set up your website so thats its an inbound marketing machine. This can be done by attracting visitors through search engines, the blogsphere and the ever more important social media arena.
