So you have made up your mind and decided to launch a social media strategy. It appears everyone else is engaging so why so your business also engage.
What should you consider before deploying your social media campaign or strategy?
1: Why? You strategy should be able to answer why and where you are engaging. Is it because your target marketing is there, your competition or just maybe there is the potential for brand exposure. Social Media is changing the rules of the market place and the days of just having a website and advertise is over. So does your strategy outline why you and your company need a social media campaign.
2: How? Does your strategy outline how you are going to succeed in Social Media and what is your approach. Is it a case of staged deployment or starting as you mean to gone on with full interaction. Do you wait to be invited? Will you start by asking questions about your industry, brand, company etc.? Do you start by joining conversations and hoping people will follow you?
3: What? What are your goals and how do plan to measure and track your success. Does your business have an expectation of what it wants to achieve from Social Media. If you do not have a clear set of goals how can you justify your time and investment? You have to understand what you want to track. Who is going to aggregate all your analytics and bring it together in a report that is accessible and answers your questions?
4: When? Companies sometimes forget to re-evaluate their strategy. They get stuck in routine even if it is working you always need to take time out and re-evaluate. Is there something you could be doing better? Set points in your strategy for re-evaluation. Are the demographics moving or changing for your target market? Are you running the same promotions with declining results? Has your unique selling point changed?

These are just a few questions you should ask yourself and your business. Is there anything I have missed or you can add?
