To people who want to tweet but can not get started in social media

Twitter - Social MediaThe first question that comes to people's minds when considering the possibilities of Twitter or even social media is what to fill the 140 characters with. When you take into account that there is on average 1.9 million tweets per day or nearly 1350 tweets every minute. You need to make the most of those 140 characters, so how do you make it stand out.

So here are a few ideas to make the most of your tweet and your social media.

1: Where possible make it personal, remember that "people" are going to read your tweet.

2: While you might be limited on space, try not to fall into the txt speak. You want people to understand you and get your message across, why take the risk with abbreviations.

3: Think of the reader, what do they want to read. Regardless who your target audience is you need to keep your tweets relevant to what you know best and what their interests are.

4: Twitter goes both ways so engage. Ask questions, provide your view on theories or ideas and ask others to join in.

5: Think of the basics, make sure that it is spellings-error free, makes sense grammatically and doesn't have any embarrassing typos.

6: Something new, provide information or links to resources that is useful to your followers that can't source anywhere else.

7: Read and read again before you send. Ask yourself is this a tweet that you would follow, re-tweet or respond to.

8: What do you want to add?

And remember that Great tweets are not defined by their subject, but by how they engage your followers.
