What is the UK potential for Inbound Marketing?
Posted by Patrick Murphy on Tue, Jan 19, 2010
According to the UK Office for National Statistics over 70% of the population have internet access, this is an increase of 11% since last year. So the market is there for your business and services to engage as see the benefits of Internet and Inbound Marketing.
The UK has the most active online population in Europe, with the highest average number of daily visitors (21.8m), the highest usage days per month (21 per user), and the highest average time spent per month per user (34.4 hours).
Most companies do have a website but are not sure where they or if they appear on Google. An important part to think about is that only 5% of people go past page one on Google. So say if you are on page two of Google then your potential market has suddenly shrunk from 70% of the population down to 4%. And when you account for the demographics that suit your business's offering the potential is reduced even further.
So the potential is there for you and your business to start taking reaching 70% of the total UK market through Inbound Marketing.
Inbound Marketing is about your target audience finding you and your company through natural search. In 2005 a study found only 17% of the top 100 internet Retailer sites are fully using search engine optimisation and marketing. Of the top 100 sites, only 17% were well optimised, 25% moderately optimised, 35% nominally optimised, and 23% not optimised at all. Hence companies are starting to understand the value and return attached to organic search as only 25% of users click on Pay Per Click advertising.
