On our webinar this week we spoke about How to Get Found on Google as part of your Inbound Marketing Plan. So what happens when they find you and your website? Your home page many times is their first point of entry with your landing page the conversion from visitor to lead or to customer. So any landing page is a very critical part to any Inbound Marketing or Internet Marketing strategy.
Your website success or your business success can come down your visitor's first impression and the message that they receive in the first few seconds of landing on your website. Like anyone tipping their toe in the water, they have two choices either jump in or move on. Your visitor has the same choice to either engage with your website or leave.
How should you view your landing page or your home page? Maybe like a date night, a first interview or even a movie trailer, something that will convince your guest to stay and engage with you and your company.
Your home page is the most likely your most visited page and deserves your attention. I looked at my own metrics and on any giving week our home page is the second most visited page, it sits between our current campaign landing page that we are running and our blog page.
Your home page is slightly different to other landing page as you have to adapt your content to all your traffic sources and your current inbound marketing campaign. Some companies have different landing pages to suit the source of your traffic (natural listing, adwords or PPC, Social media etc.) or the keyword or phrase.
Any home page should be carefully laid out and meet the needs of your visitors in terms of graphic and content. The home page should ergonomic and encourage a prolonged visit and a re-visit to your site.
So what is the objective of your home page and does it fit in with your Inbound Marketing Plan?
