Have you the missing link for Inbound Marketing

Inbound Marketing LinksBefore we go into how to get that missing link for your Inbound Marketing campaign, why are they important?  Here are some reasons why you should consider website links important.

First links help search engines like Google find you and your website.   As Google's search engine crawler travels around the web, it follows the links and indexes the web pages it comes across.  So the more links to your website the more likely and quickly your website will be found and indexed.

Secondly your page value can be determined by the number of links to your website pages.  Search engines like Google place a greater value on your website pages if you have lots of pages linking to your website page.  By having many links to your website pages Google will assume that your website and pages must be important.

Lastly links helps Google to determine what your website page is about.  If the link text contains keywords, then, they have some indication of what the page is about.  This is called anchor text; it is the hyperlink to your website pages. For example, Inbound Marketing, in which "Inbound Marketing" is the anchor text.  Used correctly the anchor text can boost your rankings with Google.

So now the hard part, how do you generate the links?

Your very first strategy for link building for Inbound Marketing should be producing relevant content that other websites will link to your website, because they think your content will add to the resources of their own website.  So for Inbound Marketing, your content is king and always will be.

This sounds like an ideal and easy strategy. But the question is, what is great content and how much investment does take to create?

Your content can vary depending on your target market whether your market if Business 2 Business or Business 2 Customer.  Regardless of your website the best approach for link-building is to create themed content.  Examples of this could be:

  • Product reviews or comparisons
  • Buyers guides to selecting services or products
  • Travel reviews or guides
  • Commentary on recent trends or marketplace changes
  • Free Tools, such as, calculators or checklists which can be used for either B2C or B2B sites.
  • Provide up-to-date information, views or news about your industry.   Like "A blog!"

So review your opportunities to create fresh themed content within your website to build a valuable resource for visitors that they may want to link to from their own website.  And do not forget to produce content that is keyword rich and optimized for your strategic keyphrases and and your Inbound Marketing campaign.
