HootSuite vs Tweetdeck

On a Linkedin group a question was asked about HootSuite vs Tweetdesk and which is the best. For those that are not aware they are twitter tools. According to their own site HootSuite is the professional Twitter client. With HootSuite, you can manage multiple Twitter profiles, pre-schedule tweets, and measure your success. And according to Tweetdeck they are the leading browser for the real-time and social web, allowing users to connect with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace. TweetDeck shows you everything you want to see at once, so you can stay organised and up-to-date.

So I took that question on board and want to see could I answer that from Social Media monitoring tools. The first question I asked was which one is getting the most mentions. And by the looks of it Tweetdeck is ahead.

Hootsuite bc Tweetdeck

From that Tweetdeck is one up on HootSuite. However they could be all criticising Tweetdeck which would really would give a false reading, so on we go with the challenge. So next up we have to look at the sentiment of these mentions. As we can see below Tweetdeck do have more negative comments.

Hootsuite vs Tweetdeck

Some of the negative views on Tweekdeck were:
"I personally don't like tweetdeck. Too bulky. I multitasking waaay to much. But many love it...."
"Can #Tweetdeck fix its foreign language issues? Can't read tweets in Arabic, Hebrew, Korean or any other language"

And what about HootSuite
"Grr... Hootsuite is down again! Not cool. #FAIL..."
I don't have much experience with tweetdeck but I love hootsuite!

I think that makes the score even at one all. I think the final score comes down to what do people love about each product.

First up Hootsuite
"...I like that I can post to FB pages more easily on Hootsuite, however their site just crashed......"
"I love Hootsuite too!..."

Next Tweetdeck
"I advise you to get TweetDeck - then you can see how useful it is as you can see all messages, hashes, DMs, etc. :)..."
"Tweetdeck links nicely with your FB account- easy to use, effective but more importantly, it looks pretty...."

It seems that people love Hootsuite and people like the functionality of Tweetdeck. So maybe Tweedeck is your Volvo and Hootsuite your BMW? Can it be that simple? What most people love about Hootsuite is that it is in the cloud, and with that I think Hootsuite wins? What is your view?

By the way SiliconCloud are running a webinar this Thursday on "How to Build a Brand with Social Media" where we will cover more on Social Media monitoring

This information was great. Although the chart says that TweetDeck is ahead of HootSuite I personally find it easier to use Hootsuite. Here is a personal comparison of both sites.

This blog posting really didn't give much. You know that most people are going to be bias to one or the other. Why don't you actually compare the two for features in benefits instead of measuring sentiments and mentions.

Good point Greg. But there are so many other sites other there with that information we looked for something different.
