Are Blogs for Inbound Marketing and lead generation?

BlogPeople and business may have different names for a blog; there blog could be called news, newsblog or views from the top. But what is a blog? Your blog should be seen as a collection of written posts or articles that are used to inform, entertain, or share your views and experiences with people, customers, clients etc. Unlike the traditional media of newspapers and books they can be interactive giving the readers the chance to comment and respond to your views.

You could say that there are two types of blogs out there, they can be either a personal blog or a business blog. Where a business blog differs it is seen as a corporate tool for communicating with customers, potential customers and employees to share their knowledge and expertise. The main difference of a business blog is the goal of your blog. Your business blog should be something that supports your business goals, strategy and your business aspirations.

Hubspot the founders of Inbound Marketing are 100% percent convinced on the benefits of blogging for you and your business. Hubspot preformed some research on the percentage of business who have acquired a customer from their blog. Interesting enough all companies that blog multiple times a day have all acquired a client from their blog. So a customer or lead generation tool, blogging appears to be a winner!

What I find personally hilarious is firms that claim to do inbound marketing, but don't have a blog or social media account..

Over the next 2-5 years the number of small business owners will drastically increase. For people that operate home based businesses, personal and business blogs should become one in the same. Your business should be an extension of you and your social media accounts. It could be detrimental for those that keep these separate blogs, especially those that still live a "wild" personal life and care to express their weekends online! Not a good move for those not established.
