There is plenty of press, blogs and comments around inbound marketing but what is inbound marketing in simple terms. Coming from Ireland I like to use the pub and how it works as a way to explain what Inbound Marketing is to me and how it works.
The first part of "What is Inbound Marketing" is about getting your message out there. The best way to begin your inbound marketing regardless if it is online or offline is just to be social and engage with people that have similar interests. For example when we are back in the pub we simply do not burst in pushing out our sales pitch. No, we buy our drink and talk socially and if someone does ask what we do we still avoid the sales pitch. We tell interesting facts, views and what we are working on. The version of this online would be our blog, facebook or tweets. So the first part of "What is Inbound Marketing" comes down to simply informing people what you are about in a non offense and social way. That is the first part covered on "What is Inbound Marketing", what is next. We have spent time engaging and been social but how does that generate business for you and your company. Well let's go back down the pub and we find Joe Soap who is asking the barman, his friend or anyone do they know someone that can help with a little issue he has. If you have done your social interaction correctly they should be all soon recommending you. And that is how Google works, people ask Google questions and look for Google to provide the answers!
So what is Inbound Marketing, it is about getting your message out there and having people or Google recommend you!
