Keywords are the reason why England and the USA are scoring

Keywords GoalsFootball is a match of two sides, with you on one side and your competitor on the other. Well your website is no different, try and view the net as you website and the ball as your traffic. The only thing stopping your traffic is the competition. But what moves the ball around or moves the traffic around the internet is keywords. Any search starts and ends with the keywords, the user starts with one search term and could end with a different term but it always start and ends with keywords. You get the keywords right and then you start to start to score goals.

The same way the English and American football managers plan their team depending on the competition you should do the same for your keywords. The keywords are key to the success of your website online. So how do you go about researching keywords anyway?

Your first step is to determine the most suitable keywords for your company, your brand, your products or your services. You also need to pick keywords that are suitable for your target market. A great way your keywords research is to listing down the main products or services your offer. Also look at the keywords that describe your company and your target market. Once you have completed your list the next stage is to refine it by doing some keyword research. The main part of keyword research is to identify from your list what are the keywords that people frequently search for. But is also worth noting what keywords are worth targeting from a competitive point of view.

When we do keywords research for clients, we produce a report that identities the potential monthly search volume and what the difficulty rating would be to get on to page one of any search engine. That way we can quickly identity where the quick wins are. So look through your keywords and identify the Jermain Defoe or Landon Donovan of your website.

When writing article for my website I try to think like a bride searching for wedding related vendors. This way I can work on being found in early searches where the competition is reduced. By using long tail keyword phrases it is possible to define the search to a specific niche.

Hi Ivor

You are so right and I recent report showed that people on average search with 3 or more keywords. Meaning that all the traffic is moving to long tail keywords
