LinkedIn may not be for everyone but its sure worth a shot to try and generate traffic, leads, or simply brand awareness. If you haven’t looked at LinkedIn to see if your target market is hanging out there, then you might want to consider

- 560,000 professionals visit the site every day
- 450 million pages are viewed every week,
- 42 pages are browsed per member every month
So rather than convince you that you should be on there, why not learn what it takes to get involved?

LinkedIn Tip #1: Create a Profile
Spend some time creating a profile that presents who you are and the value you bring to the table. It can be tempting to copy your CV but do more than that. Put your best foot forward and give you 30 second elevator speech. People are on LinkedIn to find knowledgeable interesting people to engage with – so be one of them.
LinkedIn Tip #2: Join various Groups
There are various types of groups on LinkedIn. Like anything else, you have to give a little to get a little. Read about your industry, listen to what people are saying, and find out what the hot topics are that people are discussing.
If your industry does not have a group on LinkedIn, don’t assume that they aren’t there. Take a proactive approach and create the group. You might be surprised as to how many members you acquire.
LinkedIn Tip #3: LinkedIn Answers
People have questions, their looking for Answers so allocate some time on this section. Engage with people. There may already be several answers to a question but it does not mean you don’t have a valuable answer. You’re the expert in your industry, so share your knowledge. What you may not realize is how many people you are engaging with apart from the person asking the question.
LinkedIn Tip #4: Events
Post your events on LinkedIn and promote it through your various groups. You have the opportunity to touch a lot more people in your industry by sharing the current events that you have going on.
LinkedIn Tip #5: Advertise
LinkedIn Ads are great way to reach your target market and build some brand awareness. With LinkedIn Ads you have the ability to define the industry, positions within a company, and even the region you want to target. Spend a little and see what types of results you’re in for.
