Website designs can be as simple or as complex as you would like them to be. No matter what you decide, two most important factors for you to keep in mind are:
- Keep it simple!
- Be able to stand up in front of a room of strangers and be
proud of your website!
Here are some website design tips to help you meet your online business strategy:
Website Design Tip #1: Keep it Simple
Have a website that is simple. You can make it look fantastic without having to spend a lot of money or creating a fancy website. If your website takes a long time to load because of flash or pop-ups, less people are likely to stick around to view it. Remember that a lot of people surf on their mobile phones so make it accessible to those tools.
Website Design Tip #2: Clear Navigation
Your website should be easy to navigate. Keep the clutter to a minimum and get to the point. Your website should speak to your visitors needs, not just to the visual appeal. Have multiple ways of finding things. Just because you feel something fits under a particular category doesn’t mean everyone else will be able to find it.
Website Design Tip #3: Test Test and Test
Remember that people use all different sorts of browsers. Ensure that there are no blaringly obvious errors among the most widely used – FireFox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.
Website Design Tip #4: Errors
Make sure that the links on your site work. If you have videos, check that they play. If you have documents, test that you can download them. Nothing worse than searching for content and finding that it’s not accessible.
Website Design Tip #5: Make it look professional
You clear visible font. Don’t make the font hard to read or too small that it’s a struggle to read the content. Use images but make it look neat and tidy.
