Some numbers to crunch for inbound marketing

I am an accountant by profession and as such love numbers. Here are some interesting numbers from the latest
eConsultancy report on Media consumption figures:
Over 40% of internet users already listen to or watch conventional TV while surfing the net. Comment: There you go, the internet is longer standalone and should be considered as part of your total marketing strategy.
Although men are in the majority across the global internet, women spend about 8% more time online, averaging 25 hours per month on the Web. Comment: could the same be said for talking? But serious it is time you profile your marketing between the sexes, Facebook is a great place to start.
It is estimated that globally, over 62 million consumers will have internet access in their cars by 2016. This compares to the 970,000 consumers with access in 2009 Comment: The take away is to start thinking about your local search strategy now!
65% of marketers plan to increase spend on web content. Comment: Chances are that part of the 65% is your competition. Review your web budget and see where you can improve, not your investment but the return on your investment.
Generation Y users, ages 18 to 29, spend the most time online, logging just over 19 hours per week on average. But those aged 30 to 43 are close behind with 17 hours per week average. Comment: stop thinking that the internet is only for the young, your target market is also online.
Worldwide internet users spend 4.6 hours using social media a week, compared to 4.4 hours using email. Comment: Social Media is great but do not get carried away, remember the 80:20 rule.
48% of online users are reading content (articles, blogs, websites). Comment: How is your content, would you come back to your website?
