Benefits of SEO versus PPC.
Many debates are currently raging as to the best way to harness the power of the Internet and promote business. Considering the Net is a sprawling giant of more than 160 million websites, promotional campaigns have to be carefully tailored in order to make an impact. In the quest to achieve this, many marketers are assessing the benefits of SEO versus PPC.
PPC is very simple
PPC stands for pay-per-click advertising and it was developed as one of the first ways for advertisers to advertise on websites as well as one of the ways websites could generate an income. The most entrenched example of PPC advertising is Google Adwords. The principle here is simple. Every time a customer or prospect clicks on an ad that links directly to the advertiser’s website, the advertiser pays. The price for this click can vary from a few cents to a few dollars depending on the site, position and targeted search.
Because of this advertising budgets for pay-per-click can vary widely. Literally every different variable that is selected be it region targeted or search terms will affect the price of the campaign. For this reason it is important to watch campaign results very closely in order to seek which activity is achieving the desired results.
SEO is different
SEO serves a different function insofar as it allows marketers to identify online activity before a campaign is launched. By identifying the keywords or search terms that are most prevalent in a given industry, a business website can be built with those search terms in mind. Some industry experts say that when it comes to SEO versus PPC, SEO is the more organic and creative approach whereas PPC is the more analytical, cost-focussed approach.
