Really is SEO just hide and seek?

SEO is traffic, stop
The main reason for using SEO or search engine optimization is that all the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and Bing use keywords to rank the sites in their databases. Think for a moment. When you enter a search term into Google for example, do you spend ages searching through every page of results? No. You expect to see the information you’re looking for listed in the first five to six results listing.
SEO is about not going past page one
Internet research shows that the percentage of people who click through to second and third page search result pages is less that ten percent. The majority of people enter a new search term before exhausting the list of their initial search. Although many companies are opting to use campaign like Google Adsense, research also shows that most searchers are most trusting of links that are not sponsored. They feel the information listed in the search results page is more relevant.
SEO is first about getting indexed
The reality is that more than fifty percent of pages available on the Internet are not indexed, which means that they have not been linked to specific categories in search engine databases. In order to categorise pages, the Internet runs automated programmes that are called web crawlers or spiders. Once a page has been found by a crawler, it can then be indexed, which is how search engines link search terms to the many millions of pages on the Net.
SEO therefore is hide and seek
When a search term is entered on the Net, the search engine checks its index for matching terms. This facility is what allows the search engine to bring up search results in a matter of seconds. Without this facility it would take hours. Once the engine has completed the search, it then ranks those results depending on which ones most closely fit the search term entered. In short, without SEO, a business is making it very difficult for the search engine to find it, index it and rank it.
