Blogging is hot
Blogging is a hot word in online marketing these days. In fact the concept of blogging has been around since the dawn of the Internet way back in the early nineties. The idea for blogging comes from the very simple notion of keeping a daily log of on-going activities, except that in this forum the information is stored online, so it’s kind of like an online diary.
Blogging can be about....
That said a blog can be about anything and there are literally millions of blogs on the Internet that are about anything. For the most part, many of these are a waste of time. Why? For a blog to be worthwhile, it needs to build up readers and the only way to build up readers is to be about something specific or focussed. Business blogs come with a ready strategy in that individual companies will already know the content or focus of their blog i.e. their products or services.
Blogging is not just words
But it’s not enough to simply write about these things without giving any thought to the structure of the piece, the needs of customers or style of language. Firstly, the expectations of customers must be taken into consideration. What information will interest them? Also the language customers use will also be important. Will customers expect the blogs to be written in a technical style or will layman’s terms suffice?
Blogging Headline sells
Usually the key to a good blog starts with the headline. A good snappy headline can draw readers in and set up the tone of the blog. Don’t be afraid to go with something zany here or even controversial. The first aim is to draw attention, and there’s nothing like an exaggerated statement to do that. Then there is also the question of keywords to consider while blogging, but more on that in the next blog ;)
Sorry about your headline.... but you see how it works
