There are loads of people on You Tube!
If you have ever wondered how popular You Tube is, get this; there are more than 2 billion views on You Tube each day. But the staggering figures don’t stop there. 24 hours worth of video is uploaded to You Tube every minute and 46 years worth of You Tube content is watched every day on Facebook. In fact there are 20 million You Tube videos uploaded to Facebook each month. Of all the video content on Google platform, 99.6 percent comes from You Tube.com.
And You Tube is not stopping
As of July 2010, You Tube playbacks on mobile devices reached 100 million per day. With that kind of activity, it’s no surprise that the average user spends a minimum of fifteen minutes on the site each day. There are two significant factors driving the remarkable growth of You Tube. Firstly the growth in mobile video recording devices makes it possible to create content. Alongside that growth is the explosion in video advertising in the form of both banner and display ads. That end users have the ability to share in this advertising revenue is also a driving force.
And You Tube is only a baby
You Tube is monetising more than a billion videos a month. Of AdAge’s top 100 advertisers, ninety-four have launched campaigns on You Tube. Add to that the fact that the number of advertisers running display ads across You Tube has increased by 1,000 percent in the last year. All this activity and yet You Tube has just turned six years old. Nike may have been the first advertiser to realise the potential of You Tube, but as the figures show other businesses are fast realising that potential too.
