Which Comes First: SEO, Website Design or the Egg?

In many way the evolution of website design and SEO planning have occurred separately which means that they are very often viewed as separate tasks. In fact, a recent online article discussing the quality of web design and web programming courses in educational institutions highlighted that very often only one of these i.e. either web design or SEO are included in IT syllabuses.
The same article bemoaned the fact that today’s web designers are being trained to created eye-catching and sales orientated websites with very little emphasis on SEO while programmers know a lot about code but little about the importance of site design. For this reason, it can often be very difficult for companies working with designers or programmers in a bid to create a stand-out website that meets all the business needs.
The problem here is that SEO is a relatively new concept in the field of website design. Yes, SEO in relation to Google ranking has been around for years, but its importance as a web design tool is still being explored. The reality is that when it comes to web design, without question, the first thing that must be considered is SEO.
SEO research should be the first stage of website planning because it is SEO that creates a path for the business’s online presence. Because there are so many websites out there and the most daunting task for any site is getting noticed, SEO provides a way to ensure that happens before the site even goes online.
How? By revealing the search patterns and terms of your customers online. If those search terms have been highlighted prior to the creation of the site, they can then be built into the creation of the site and also direct the site’s eventual marketing strategies. No business can afford to overlook the importance of SEO.
