social mediaAre you using your website to communicate your company’s message, or are you complimenting it with social media? Where we once had a message on a website, now we can see it echoed on mediums such as Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon, etc. The amount you permeate into these mediums is your “social reach”. Obviously, the more social reach you have the higher the benefits to your organization- from spreading your content around and letting it travel, but also raising brand awareness for your organization.

Social Media Brand Awareness

Aiming for broad social reach is the reason so many organizations are increase their social meda presence.  Another big reason we would want to increase our social reach is that search is now changing how it ranks your site and categorizes you. The algorithms that dictate Google and Bing search results will also look to presence on social media sites along with your own website to determine your ranking in search. On top of this, it will also evaluate if your content is relevant to the search term. Sounds tricky, huh?

Relevant And Good Quality Social Media Content

Organizations need to be focusing on creating quality, relevant content in order to increase their social reach. You can create content that others can use, or that just entertain others.  But it needs to be relevant to your orgnzation, and your brand message. Creating your own quality content can be tricky, so make sure to take on board a creative who can tick all the boxes for quality content creation. Blogs are a great place to start. Business blogging is highly beneficial and building a blog based on your insights into your industry will prove valuable for your viewers and for your search rankings. Portable blog content is great for social bookmarking, Tweeting, and Facebooking, to name a few.

Social media should be integrated with your team, not just from a marketing perspective but from the top of your organization. Very often if social media is tucked away in a corner, the company message can get lost or confused. You should plan a framework for pushing out your message, and make sure all departments are on board.

On top of all this, implement social bookmarking toolbars on your webpages and content posts. Be sure to include effective SEO in all of your posts so that you can ensure your content is both portable, and finadable.
