How To Win At Organic SEO

Search engine optimization is hard to define at times: it involves so many elements. As the search algorithms on sites like Google, Bing, and Yahoo evolve, SEO gets futher complicated as we have to bend and flex to take in other mediums, not just on our own website. SEO now goes as far a social media sites, so our presence there needs to be optimised too. Organic traffic from SEO is the most satisfying to us- why pay for PPC when you can grow free traffic with SEO?               search1 300x234

If you’ve just started your own website, make sure to follow these SEO tips to start building your organic traffic:

  - Get working on your SEO as soon as your website is up. The search engines will index it quickly, so you need to have great SEO built into all of your pages as soon as possible.

  - Identify your target audience put yourself inside their heads. This is so you can identify the keywords they may use to get to your page. If someone was to come upon your page from search, what might they be searching for? If they have never heard of your product before, how will they find it? Think in these terms, and you will be close to identifying what you need to put into your keywords and descriptions.

 - Get your keywords clear from the start. Do a lot of research, and find out what are the top ranked keywords related to your product or service. There are many software tools and applications out there that can help you with this.

  - Don’t try to fool the search engine: everything on your site should be consistent with the keywords you’ve used. Your site’s content also needs to be relevant to your keywords, or the search engine could label you off as a “content farm” – this is not something you want to happen! You will get nowhere in search rankings then.

  - Pay attention to layout – make sure that your website is functional, so whatever page the user gets shown from search lets them know who you are and what you do. Your colours and layout should be appealing to the user –there is nothing that will put someone off more than a) an ugly site and b) a site that doesn’t do what they thought it would do. That of course relates to our earlier point about relevant content. SEO can be intimidating – if you need expert advice contact SiliconCloud today or register for a FREE website evaluation where our experts will evaluate your website for its marketing potential, as well as giving you an SEO review.
