SEO Myths Debunked
Posted by Patrick Murphy on Fri, Aug 19, 2011
The controversy over what SEO should and shouldn’t be always reigns supreme. There are thousands of websites out there that will all give conflicting answers, and that’s because the process of carrying out SEO can be different for everyone. With our experience in SEO, we’ve found it to be a bit of a craft, and it does require a bit of instinct. You’re always going to get conflicting answers from different sources.
Who do you get your SEO advice from?
It’s tough to know which guide to go with. Use a trustworthy agent or advisor. A brief search on is likely to bring up services which offer link building, but this practice is strongly discouraged by Google and we don’t agree with its spam like nature either. Providers or services like these will do their very best to convinced you that their services are effective and fair. The truth is they’re not. This is just one of the myths we have debunked in our SEO experience.
Link building services are NOT good for your reputation. They are likely to damage your site’s credibility, reputation and severely hamper your page rank when Google finds out what your link builder has been up to. That’s because most link building services you’ve seen advertised will essentially post spam on other people's websites and blogs under your name. This is obviously not a good thing.
Want that first page slot on Google?
A first page ranking for one keyword is not as effective as a long page ranking for specific keywords. Specific keywords are far more likely to produce a conversion, so don’t be in the crowd of 70% who compete for 30% of the traffic at the top, and target the middle space for high quality leads. Use topical and relevant content to compete for your industry specific keywords.
These are just a couple of the myths we have found to be untrue in this business. If you want more SEO advice, contact SiliconCloud today and stay tuned for more tips.
