Why Bother With Landing Pages At All?
Posted by Patrick Murphy on Mon, Aug 22, 2011
As a major part of any online marketing strategy for B2B websites, landing pages are popular and it’s for a reason. While some people may think they are old-fashioned or tired, we do not agree. A great landing page drives traffic to your website and converts it into high quality leads for your sales team. Time and time again we see clients getting great results from a well-designed landing page. It’s the one page your entire online marketing campaign will be based around. Your PPC, email marketing, social media marketing campaigns will all point to this one landing page. Once you get the visitors to this page, it’s time to reel them in. In case you haven’t copped on yet.. we believe landing pages are the ONE thing you should bother with before everything else!
Your landing page is your sales guy
When a web user visits your landing page it is the first point of contact for a potential sale. So it makes sense to put your best into a landing page.. which makes them a little different from your usual bland website page. Be as effective and informative as possible on your landing page and it will pay dividends. Optimizing the way your landing page delivers this information can be the difference between a sale and a loss. So how can we make our landing pages better, you ask?
Get your ingredients right for the perfect landing page
There is no simple answer to creating effective landing pages. We wish there was a magic formula we could sell in a bottle that created instant leads, but there isn’t. It takes experience and experimentation to develop an effective landing page. The basic ingredients are freely available, but make sure to add some expert experience to the mix. First up is keeping a functional page. Keep it simple and uncluttered. Strip it down so it doesn’t include 50 million options and your website menus. Get the reader involved so that they want to sign up or hand over their details. Keep the direction simple and clear. Make clear the benefits of interacting with your landing page.
