The Art of Social Media Timing

While it’s easy to set up a Twitter account for your organization, how do you know if anybody is listening? The fact is, that based on when you time your posts you may or may not be listened to. Studies suggest there are optimum times of day to tweet based on your target market.
Tweet scheduling apps do the hard work
Tweet scheduling apps have developed in complexity and now seem to be intelligent enough to put out your tweets as an optimum time. Take Buffer for example. It is a very simple but clever app that allows you to share content you find interesting on the web. On top of that, it picks the best time for your tweets to go out. This is a great way to get your presence out there, especially when the schedule is busy. Recent studies have shown that technology like Buffer really increased the click through rate.
"We took a large sample of 2000 Buffer users. We then looked at 3 weeks of their Twitter usage, before they signed up to Buffer and 3 weeks of usage afterwards. We determined that for a user to be representative, they had to have Tweeted at least 20 Tweets with links through Buffer and 20 Tweets with links without Buffer before. After we determined that on average CTR on Tweets increased by 200%, followers increased by 100 and retweets doubled, we used the Klout score as proof that all of this increased engagement is actually relevant. Klout score amongst these 2000 Buffer users would rise on average by 3.5 points within the first week alone." Source: Buffer
Be aware of social media trends
As an organization, it’s important to be aware of when your users are most active on Twitter and other social platforms like Facebook. Testing these metrics isn’t too hard. Pick some different times of day to post out new information and monitor hourly traffic and response rates. This can take some experimentation but if it helps to make your social media activity more efficient then it’s well worth it.
