Previously we explained to our blog readers about the differences between a Facebook page and a Facebook Profile. Now that we’re all clear about the nitty gritty details, we’re ready to get started with setting up the page, and getting your social media marketing campaign underway.
How to set-up a Facebook Page: Step-By-Step
Firstly, visit Facebook.com/Pages and familiarize yourself with the T&C’s of Facebook pages. When you have finished reading the fine print, it’s time to jump on in!
1. You will see 6 boxes, labeled local business or place, company organization or institution, brand or product, artist, band or public figure, entertainment and cause or community. Select the box which you feel most applies to your organization.
2. The next page will involve lots of details about your business. It’s best to fill in as much as possible here so your customers will be able to find you and see your full details when they need them. This section will have a real impact on how you get found during Facebook searches too.
3. Next up, you have to upload an image. This image will appear on the left hand side of your Facebook page, and it will act as your logo when making posts on other walls and when your page’s posts show up on it’s fans walls. It’s a good idea to use your branding here, so use a logo or failing that, a strong image that represents your organization.
4. Next up, you can “tell your friends” or import contacts. This means that if you have an email database you can upload it and Facebook will let them know your organization now has a page.
5. There are lots more details here you can fill in. As before, complete the profile as much as possible.
6. Update your brand new wall with a status update.
7. When you reach 25 “likes”, you will be eligible for a vanity URL for your page. To reach 25, it’s a good idea to use the marketing and promotions tools to add “like” boxes to your website.
