All over the world, small business owners, large businesses and startups of all colors are hopping on the Twitter bandwagon and social media in general. Facebook accounts are being created for businesses every day. These platforms are free, so everyone wants to give it a shot. A lot of local businesses already have a marketing budget, and with social media being “relatively” easy, businesses look to it to compliment their existing campaigns for free. Of course, nothing comes without hard work, so take into account our tips for a really successful twitter for business account.
What’s your social media marketing goal?
The first element is to get your goals set out. Do you wish to increase leads through Twitter, or brand awareness, or provide customer service? Perhaps you’d like all three. That’s a reasonable goal too. After you know what you want, customize your profile. The text should be concise and readable, and your company website should also be linked. If there is a graphic designer in house, they could whip up a new theme for your profile to work in with branding. Even if this resource isn’t available, there are some great presets to choose from.
When tweeting, there should always be a point. Never waste a tweet. Provide useful information, and link it back to your website and landing pages to drive traffic through. Followers are only gained when twitter users post valuable information, so put value into every tweet.
Use SEO keywords in twitter
Identify your SEO keywords, and use them on Twitter search. This is a highly effective way to find out the conversation around your products or industry. Make sure to also search for mentions of your company or brand. This is a powerful monitoring tool, not to be underestimated.
Use hashtags where appropriate. Hashtags help to organize tweets into categories or themes all using the hash sign (#). If you’re in the business of hairdressing, you could search #hair for example, and see what the discussion is about styles and trends, etc.
