Key Guidelines on Inbound Links
Posted by Patrick Murphy on Tue, Oct 11, 2011
So now you know that inbound links are of course an integral part of inbound marketing. Inbound linking improves your popularity among the search engines and makes you into a more qualified search result. A higher search ranking will help to drive more traffic, and with the advanced nature of SEO these days, it means higher quality traffic too.
Search engines are smarter
In the old days, people used to get away with buying links in order to generate more inbound links. These days it’s a complete no-no and goes into the area of “black hat” SEO. Buying links A) isn’t very ethical, B) fools the search engines, and C) generates low quality traffic. These days, the search engines are smarter and can tell black-hat SEO a mile away. If black-hat is discovered, your site will be labeled as bad news by the search engines and you’ll fall way way down the rankings.
How do we generate inbound links?
Inbound links are often created by link exchange, but the best way to generate inbound links it to provide useful content that people WANT to link to. These are the best organic links and also prove that you are an expert in your field and have something useful to contribute. Links from similar themed sites are also more useful than the reverse, because it proves to search engines that you have more credibility in your field.
This is where business blogging comes in. By carrying out business blogging regularly, you are generating useful content that people will want to share. Hence, you get more inbound links, and higher quality traffic returning. Business blogging should be relevant to your industry or product, and be readable so that your readers will enjoy the experience of reading and sharing your content.
