Creating a Facebook business page for your organization is an achievement in itself, but what then? A page is no good unless we have fans or “likes” to engage with it, after all. So, how can we get more fans on to our page? At the beginning, there are a number of basic steps to satisfy, before we move into the long term social media engagement plan. We have outlined the first five steps below.
Got a landing page?
Landing pages aren’t just for websites, you know. Creating a customized landing or “welcome” page for your Facebook presence is a useful way to focus and increase fan numbers. Landing pages on Facebook have been proven to turn 72% of page visitors into fans. Landing pages can be designed using a paid service, or if your techy employees know how to create iFrames, you can do it all in-house.
Let our current customers know
How about a mailer to your current customer list inviting them to visit your new Facebook fan page? Spell out the benefits of being engaged with your organization in this way, for example if you plan to post latest news, special offers and Facebook-only promotions.
Be sure to update contact information and links on social profiles
Always post links and connect up your social media profiles, for example on Twitter or LinkedIn.
Use new Facebook features to interact
You can now use Facebook “as a page”, which means interacting in other areas of Facebook under the face of your page or brand. Try commenting on some related fan pages under your own page to get further awareness out there.
Facebook Advertising… worth the investment?
Purchasing and running adverts on Facebook has proven popular and lucrative. Specialized targeting is available, and always make sure to test your adverts and tweak where necessary. It’s a great strategy to direct adverts to your landing page.
