More of The Eternal Question: Getting Fans On Facebook Pt 2
Posted by Patrick Murphy on Wed, Oct 26, 2011
Yesterday we discussed some basic starting points for increasing your Facebook page fan base, or “likes” as Facebook calls them. Delving into Facebook can be a challenge and a lot more work than most realize: purely setting up the page is an achievement in itself, never mind gaining fans. So what else can we do to boost fan numbers before launching into a long-term social media campaign? We look at some more pointers.
Got a “like” box for your website?
The Facebook “like” box is very useful. When you add it to your website, people can click “like” and become a fan of your page without ever leaving your website. The like box can also include other details, like number of fans. When people visit your website, and they see that your Facebook page has a lot of fans it also boosts your credibility.
Call in some favours
Ask friends and colleagues to “share” your page. All fan pages have a “share” link on the left hand bar that you can use to ask friends to visit your page and “like” it from. They can also share the page onwards. It’s the butterfly effect!
Use all possibilities for promotion
Add a like box or link to your Facebook page to all email signatures. Then every recipient of your emails will also be made aware of your Facebook page. It’s win win!
Make use of Facebook features to invite friends
Use the invite friends link on your page to make it known to all your friends. You can also create events using the events feature to launch out your page. Make sure to personalize the event, and make it appealing for example “Page Launch Celebration: 10% off for all attendees!”
These tips will help you get started in your quest for Facebook domination. After this comes the planning for a long term Facebook strategy. Stay tuned for more tips!
