Digital Marketing Is Just About Facebook, Right?

You’ve decided to embrace digital marketing. It’s the right direction for your business, so your friends say. They also say that social media is what it’s all about so you’ve launched a Facebook page and even have a snazzy expensive landing page made up. It’s a cool landing page and you’re sure that as soon as people on Facebook see it they will “like” it. So now you’re just sitting, and waiting. This social media-marketing thing seems to be taking awhile, right?
Many platforms, many digital marketing methods
The truth is that digital marketing isn’t all about Facebook. Facebook may be a part of the strategy, but the there is a lot more to it than that. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket! It is important for your business to extend it’s reach and develop its own place in social media, but remember that just Facebook won’t do it. There are a number of platforms out there you should have a presence on, and some will suit the nature of your business more than others.
Remember that a significant proportion of Internet users are not actually on Facebook. And of the many millions of users Facebook might have, some may only log on once a week or may have completely forgotten about their accounts.
B2B businesses benefit from broad digital marketing strategies
For small organizations in B2B, it makes sense to have a social media strategy but to also use well-written email marketing to your advantage. Email marketing newsletters and information bulletins will help share useful information, special promotions and news with clients and prospective clients. In B2B, these tend to be of more use than a Facebook page.
In a recent study, 64% of respondents said they prefer to receive information about sales and promotions through “promotional emails” rather than social media. If we filter B2B respondents only, that percentage would be higher.
