My Social Media Efforts Aren’t Generating Leads: What’s Wrong?Social media is the trendiest inbound marketing method around at the moment, and it allows businesses and marketing teams to communicate with prospects in a new way. Above this, is caters for customers service, free content promotion and importantly, lead generation. When your business uses social media properly, you’re giving access to your content through a platform that the majority of users are already on. How convenient!

In addition to this, prospects do like to opt in when it’s within the confines of social media. They’re more likely to provide their contact information in order to obtain valuable content of special offers. This is no surprise: 49% of digital marketers already know this truth: they all use social media for lead generation. So why isn’t it working for you? Well, unfortunately for some brands, they don’t always know the right strategies to use for their markets. A blind approach to social media won’t help. See below for some pointers:

Do you know where your target market hangs out?

Maintaining a presence on all social networks as a rule isn’t going to get you very far unless you know where your target customers actually are. What’s the point in posting your updates to Twitter if your target customers aren’t there? The first step in this process is to do some research. Determine which social media websites your target audience use on a regular basis, by surveying current customers and asking around. When you find out these facts, then you can go about building awareness of your brand through these mediums. Most customers don’t make instant purchase decisions unless you work in retail, so it’s important to let them get to know your company.

What can you do for your customers?

This isn’t a joke. Not providing valuable content is the number one reason people won’t follow your Twitter feed or like your page. If you’re just pushing out content about how great your product is, then it’s likely that people won’t want to engage with it. If someone begins following your brand on Facebook, they’re looking to see what you can do for them. Focus on content rich in tips, guides and tricks and special offers and your base will become much more loyal.
