Boost Business Blog Engagement in 4 Easy Steps
Posted by Patrick Murphy on Mon, Dec 05, 2011
Here at SiliconCloud we make business blogging an integral part of our business, and because of this we’ve learned a thing or two about increasing engagement and comments. So you’ve produced some high quality content that provides value to your readers, but how do you get them to engage with your posts by commenting on how they feel about your content?
Comments are a great way to learn more about the audience and register feedback. This gives you a greater opportunity to deliver even more high value content in the long run. The more you can deliver this value, the more credibility you gain as a source of knowledge. By increasing comment numbers, more viewers will notice how well you are engaging with the audience. With that in mind, here are 5 tips for boosting comments and engagement on your business blog.
Can your reader comment easily?
Some blogs have brilliant comment we want to engage with, but commenting ends up being too much hassle. A lengthy registration process is a big no. If it’s too difficult to leave a comment, most people end up leaving the web page. Sometimes you just can’t find the comment section. Make sure it’s easy to leave a comment and to find the comment section.
Encourage engagement
This seems obvious, but ask questions! Ask the reader directly to give their opinion. So, what do you think of this post so far? Do let us know in the comment section below. It works. Try it!
Respond to comments
Don’t just ignore the people who have engaged with your blog. Respond to their questions, thank them, and pay them attention. It creates a further opportunity to engage.
Comment on other blogs
Take some time to read other blogs in the industry, and comment on those. You can also leave a quality comment with your thoughts and a link back to your own blog. It’s a perfect way to boost your SEO rankings and credibility at the same time!
