Facebook Tactics Unwrapped: Free Services & Knowledge

We have some more ideas to get fans flocking to your page and becoming a valuable resource for Facebook users.
Offering services for free
This tactic is often applied in other areas of online marketing, like in email campaigns. So consider this: what is your brand known for, and what do you want it to be known for? If consulting is your thing, it’s not a bad idea to offer the services for free once in awhile. The top reason users become fans of a brand or company on Facebook is to gain access to some exclusive and valuable content or resources. Your brand can take advantage of this by giving away free services to loyal fans. When you’re selling a great product or service, those who experience it will spread the word, and there’s no reason this idea can’t be applied to the Twitter space.
Become the expert and a source of knowledge
The big challenge with Facebook is coming up with ideas to encourage fans to interact regularly over time. If one promotion is run for a week and then none for two months, fans will disengage and the Facebook algorithms will stop showing your new content in their wall feeds. When brands have a product that requires a bit of learning or selling, it’s a great idea to add valuable resources and information that will help to inform the user.
The strategy then will be to run the promotion, and follow up with additional resources and suggestions in the following weeks. Keep the visitors coming back for more information, but be sure it is valuable.
Offering free knowledge and services doesn’t take a technical wizard, and these campaigns can be implemented relatively simply. Where a campaign needs some extra magic, applications exist in order to create entire campaigns from scratch and push them out in a more colourful way.
