Twitter for Businesses: 2 Mini Case Studies
Posted by Patrick Murphy on Thu, Dec 15, 2011
There are tons of posts about the uses of Twitter for businesses, but we love real life examples. Here are 2 problem-solving examples of Twitter use for businesses.
Mobile Shopping Facility
The issue? A mobile shopping van that travels between offices in industrial estates had a lot of trouble letting its customers know when they were around their area. So the owners created a Twitter account and encouraged all their patrons to follow them. Now they tweet their location on a daily basis with a link to the day’s menu and sandwich offerings, along with a timetable. This has improved their customer following immensely, with increased revenues and customer loyalty. This idea could be applied to any mobile service- dog grooming, mobile libraries, mobile car washing, etc.
Restaurant Waste Reduction
We all know that restaurants can produce a huge amount of waste, and A) we shouldn’t be wasting good food, but B) we don’t want to pour investment down the sink or throw our money into the trash. We would like to be able to sell as much as possible, right? The solution is to create a Twitter account and encourage patrons to follow it. Every evening close to the close of business, the restaurant tweets out special meal offers for the first 50 people who retweet or walk in with a copy of the tweet. Smart, huh? A restaurant carrying out this strategy will see increased footfall, and far less wastage.
We love these Twitter ideas for local businesses. The best part is that Twitter is a free platform, and it’s only going to cost you time and effort to advertise your presence to your customer base. Investing in new print materials promoting your Twitter account is also a great idea (including this information on flyers, posters, business cards etc.).
